My Fluidity

Watery horizon, swishing sea,
my soul has a salty destiny,
whether I am man or not,
dive deep or skim to flee.

Today I am she,
slipping in curves, driving the hippocampi,
Poseidon’s blasphemy.

Tomorrow, I’ll be he,
ocean-soaked rage,
lashing ships, delaying desired
returns. I am the mist and most
I can be, fluid as the sea.

Today I am she,
slipping in curves, driving the hippocampi,
Poseidon’s blasphemy.

Being New in No Place

I wonder what it’s like
to be in a place where we didn’t
know what we think we know now,

to sit under the trees,
smell bodies,
watch clouds go by,

smile & chat,
aroused by the sun,
the moon, &

both & all & everyone.

I wonder what it’s like
to play in innocence,
eroticized by the night

& by the day, by
the cave & the monument
alike.
